The story behind the work, in the artist's words:
Eva is the name of a lady who lives in the neighborhood where I went to elementary school. She used to make limbers (Puerto Rican frozen treats) to sell, and my classmates and I would cross the street to buy them from her. What was once an everyday routine later became a treasured childhood memory. Years after I last saw her, I was able to surprise her with a visit and talk with her about how she makes her delicious limbers. This painting shows Eva pouring the limber mixture, still liquid, from her pot into a row of plastic cups. She still makes them today, but no longer sells them; now she spends her time caring for her orchids.
